A new Senate inquiry has been announced in the Australian Parliament, a Victorian Human Rights Commission report on schools and students with disability, and a new AIHW report on the use of disability services have been released:
On 20 September 2012 the Senate referred the matter of involuntary or coerced sterilisation of people with disabilities in Australia to the Senate Community Affairs Committees for inquiry and report.
The closing date for submissions has not yet been set - please check this website for updates. The reporting date is 24 April 2013.

fare in government, Catholic and Independent schools across Victoria –
capturing the experiences of
more than 1,800 students, parents and educators who participated in the
research.'
The use of disability support services in Australia is increasing, according to a report released
today by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW).
The report, Disability support services: services provided under the National Disability
Agreement 2010-11, provides information on services aimed at improving the lives of people
with disability and their carers, and enhancing their opportunities for social and community
engagement.
Over 314,000 people used disability support services in 2010-11, a 7% rise in service users
compared with the previous year.
