Our first Step UP! for Down syndrome in NSW was attended by great crowds across the state with close to 800 people participating in celebration of Down Syndrome Awareness Week.
Celebrations began in Sydney on Sunday 13th October, followed by Wagga Wagga on Sunday 20th October, and finished in the Illawarra on Sunday 27th October.
The support from our members was truly amazing and it was fantastic to see babies, children and adults with Down syndrome celebrating with their families and friends.
We had a 48 Teams and Individuals raising funds and through their exceptional efforts we have raised over $30,000, ensuring the vital work of Down Syndrome NSW which only receives a small amount of government funding will continue.
We cannot thank you enough for your fantastic fundraising and for supporting people with Down syndrome and their families.
The sun was shining at all our events, and we saw an amazing array of team T shirts, and other team costumes which added to the wonderful atmosphere. We were entertained by many dance moves, shakes and singing sensations which we hope to see again next year.
