The head of Australia's peak body for non-government disability services says it is "too early" to call for delays to the National Disability Insurance Scheme. National Disability Services chief executive Ken Baker says that despite a recent report that identified problems with the agency implementing the NDIS - such as an IT system that was not fit for purpose and a lack of clear guidance to staff - none of the problems were "insurmountable" ...

NDIS delay is not OK

Findings from a recent review of NDIA capabilities have led to speculation that the NDIS rollout could be delayed beyond 2019. Dr George Taleporos says although the review is useful in alerting us to current challenges, it should not be used to justify a longer timeline for implementation.

WesternAustralia has officially signed up to the national disability insurance scheme, becoming the last state to reach an agreement with Canberra. The WA NDIS My Way trial will begin on July 1 in the South West region, and the Cockburn-Kwinana area will join it in 2015.
