Row over increased funds for disability

The federal government yesterday rejected claims that the budget failed to include money for school students with disability, following attacks from the education sector over the lack of ­additional targeted money from next year.

A statement provided by Education Minister Christopher Pyne’s office said the budget includes about $4.8 billion over the forward estimates, averaging slightly more than $1bn a year, paid as a loading in the funding model introduced this year based on the Gonski review.

Children with Disability Australia said the government had made a clear commitment to increase funding for students with disability in the 2015 school year but the budget mentioned no extra funding for this purpose ...
